Holding your Forex positions for a large amount of days is referred to as positional trading. Unlike day trading, long term trading of FX pairs doesn't require traders to spend as much time at their desk. The idea behind trading long term trading is to grab as many pips as possible, usually with positional traders looking to gain at least 200 pips per single trade. Positional traders will achieve higher returns per trade than day traders, however their opportunities are much more limited. It's for this reason that this level of trading requires a lot more knowledge and preparation. When it comes to long term FX trading, a trader is most likely to use fundamental analysis.
