A stop order is a pending order to buy or sell an instrument once the price of this instrument reaches a specified price, known as the stop price. A limit order is a pending order to buy or sell an instrument at a specified level or better. A buy limit order can only be executed at the limit price or lower and triggered by the ask side, and a sell limit order can only be executed at the limit price or higher and triggered by the bid side.
