Question | After-hours trading: everything we need to know. |
Hello Andrew, After-hours trading occurs on major exchanges outside of regular trading hours. After-hours trading takes place between 4:30 and 8 p.m. Eastern time. Pre-market trades occur between 8 and 9:30 a.m. Parties trade at agreed-upon prices, just as they would during regular market hours. But after-hours trading comes with added risk. It’s less liquid because there are fewer buyers, and more volatile with wider bid-ask spreads because it sees less volume. Small investors will likely have to compete against institutional investors with more resources. |
