Women in Islamic Finance Report Released

Simply Sharia Human Capital (SSCH) is set to release an Islamic finance report in the coming World Islamic banking Conference (WIBC) this December.

The report entitled, “Women in Islamic Finance & Islamic Economy: Unlocking Talent” is the first of its kind. It is a historical paper that will tackle the issue of gender balance in the Islamic financial industry and the people who are giving their efforts to accomplish it.

Aside from the topic mentioned, the report will also celebrate the success of the women in Islamic finance and the Islamic economy. It will present the people, both men and women, who are making it possible for gender equality and gender participation to prosper. Moreover, the report also exposes the various opportunities that women can take.

The CBE Managing Director and Lifetime Achievement Award of Excellence for Outstanding Contribution to Islamic Finance in the UK recipient, Stella Cox shared her insights in the report and commented.

"There are a number of success stories showcasing women’s excellence in the Islamic financial industry worldwide. For example, to supplement the numerous instances of women now being elevated to senior executive positions, in Malaysia and Indonesia we are witnessing an ever increasing number of female Shari’ah scholars appointed to the Shari’ah Boards of banks and other financial institutions. The role of women in Islamic finance is increasingly apparent across front office, as well as in longer- established roles within Islamic financial firms' supporting infrastructure. Furthermore, there are numerous examples of women who have been appointed partners and directors within professional advisory firms as a result of their expertise in Shari’ah compliant financial practice."

The report has gathered diverse stories from prominent personalities of the Islamic financial industry. It talks about the various sectors and how they can all work together to better the community.

The report will be unveiled on December 7, 2016 and will be launched at the “Women’s Leadership” session at the WIBC with the sponsorship of FAA, MEGA & Gulf Ventures Corporations, IRTI, and DDCAP.
